When it comes to computers and laptops, threats of a virus, unfortunately, are all too real. It is critical you install an antivirus program so that it is running on your machine and protecting you from the many dangers. If you don’t run antivirus chances are you will find a problem very soon, and unless you are tech savvy, you might not want how to get out of it. Having said that, here is out top 10 antivirus for 2013.

My personal favorite — and the one I use — is AVG. The reason for this is there is a free version. The free version doesn’t give you all of the protection you need, but what it does give you is excellent protection from any virus of trojan threats. I have used it for years and to this day, have never come across a problem. I wish I could say that for all of the others I have used, but I can’t.

There are many antivirus programs I haven’t used including the next bunch that makes this list. After scoping around the web the best of the rest according to popularity among the public is Bitdefender. The Bitdefender Antivirus has almost overnight become the most popular antivirus to use. It also comes with a free trial, so you can test it out.

If having a sophisticated firewall and free antivirus is your thing then look no further than Comodo Antivirus. The Comodo antivirus is also becoming very popular, and it’s hard to find a bad word said about it. Like AVG, Comodo is a free download. To download Comodo just head over to their website Comodo.com.

The next antivirus I have on the list probably gets so high up the list for its name and also because it is free. I have used this one myself, and although I never come across a problem as such, I did have a bit of trouble using it. Just basic things like it disappearing, not being sure if it is working always seemed to be a pain. Maybe as time has changed, it has changed, and these issues aren’t there anymore. The antivirus I’m talking about is Microsoft Security Essentials. If you are interested in checking it out, you can do so by hitting up the Microsoft website and follow the prompts.

The last one I want to mention is called Panda antivirus. Panda Antivirus has been around a long time — since 1990 in fact — and has always been on my must try list because of its Panda logo I love. The problem is I never did get round to trying it. With its long lasting history and loyal fan base, though, you don’t need my word for it that it’s a good antivirus to have.

There are many arguments as to which is the outright best antivirus to have. Some swear by some and some swear by others. If you are having no problems with the one you are currently on then, there is no need to change. But if you are considering a change from the one you are using now, or are just looking for one altogether, then be sure to check out one I mentioned from the list above.
