A talented member over at XDA Developers has made it possible to get a custom recovery image on the LG Optimus 2X. The TeamWin Recovery Project 2.1 (better known as TWRP 2.1) has been designed specifically to meet the needs of its users by making it easy to use and customizable. It also eradicates the need to use the hardware buttons when selecting options from the menu. So for those of you who are looking to replace the stock CWM Recovery with this more user-friendly alternative, continue below for a step by step guide after the jump.

The following tutorial demonstrates how to install TWRP Recovery on the LG Optimus 2X smartphone.

Before You Begin

  • To install TWRP 2.1 Recovery on LG Optimus, your device must first be rooted. Please ensure that it is done before you continue.

How to Install TWRP 2.1 Recovery ON LG Optimus 2X

Step 1. First you need to download the following things:

  • Recovery Image HERE
  • Android Terminal Emulator App HERE (Install to your device)

Step 2. The Recovery Image will need to be placed somewhere easy to locate like your desktop.

Step 3. Using the USB cable, connect your device to your PC.

Step 4. You will need to place the Recovery Image file that we downloaded in step 1 into the root folder on your devices SD card. Then, disconnect you your device from your PC.

Step 5. On your device, open up the Android Terminal Emulator App that you downloaded in step 1 and enter the following commands:

su

cd /sdcard

dd if=recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p7

Step 6. Using your ‘Power’ button reboot your device.
