These are the steps to root the Sony Xperia SL smartphone using a quick one-click rooting tool from a Windows computer.
Once you have rooted your device, you are running with the ‘Sudo permissions’ or the ‘administrator permissions’ so there are no limits to what you can do with your Android operating system. make sure you install SuperSU from the Google Play Store if you ever see your device running without SuperSU in your app drawer. The SuperSU is what keeps your devices safe and protected from malware. In many cases, it’s also what gives a device the root access it needs to install the apps.
Files You Need
- Download the one-click rooting exploit for the SL smartphone from this page.
- Download the universal ADB Driver directly to the computer before you start the guide.
- You must have a Windows PC to follow this guide.
- You are choosing to void the Sony warranty by following this guide. You cannot get the warranty working again unless you unroot the device. This rooting method for the SL does not come with a unroot button or method attached, so you’ll need to work out how to flash the Xperia SL stock ROM back on the device. You can probably do that by using the Sony Flash Tool.
Rooting the Sony Xperia SL
- Download the rooting package for the SL from the file above directly to the computer.
- Open the default downloads location of your file and drag it over to the desktop.
- Right-click the mouse over the file and choose the option that says “extract here” from the menu.
- Connect your SL smartphone to the computer using the USB cable.
- Double-click over the Runme.bat file from the extracted archive and the rooting program will run on the computer.
Those of you wanting to return to the stock ROM can download it online from a trusted source. The only thing that can go wrong when flashing a stock ROM is you didn’t download the right one. Stock ROMs for most Android devices are very specific ROMs designed for your devices model number only. Make sure you find out what you Xperia SL’s model number is by heading to the Menu > Settings > About Device > Model Number.
