When people refuse to root their Android operating systems on the Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphones it’s usually because they are worried about bricking the device. - You are voiding the warranty by following the guide below to root your Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone. The Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone series comes with added Knox security which means you cannot get the warranty working again once you trip that Knox seal. However, you can still unroot the device the normal way by flashing a stock Android ROM. You can find the stock ROM for your device from the Sam Mobile website or the Samsung Updates website.
Rooting the Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G9009W
- Download the rooting package bundle from the link above and move it to the desktop of the computer.
- Once on the desktop, right-click the file and select the “extract here” option.
- Double-click and run the Odin flashing tool so it’s open on your computer.
- On your phone, navigate to the Menu > Settings > Developer Options > USB Debugging and enable that USB Debugging Mode.
- Those without any Developer Options menu must unlock it by tapping the build number from the Menu > Settings > About Device.
- Reboot the Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone in download mode. Start by turning it off and rebooting by holding the Volume Down + Power + Home buttons to get the download mode screen on your device.
- Press the Volume Up button when it tells you to do that on the display of the device.
- Connect the Samsung Galaxy S5 to the computer using the USB cable.
- The ID: COM port in the Odin app on your computer should change color. Likewise, you should see the “added!” message in the messages area.
- Click the PDA or AP button in the Odin app on the computer. Each version of the Odin tool has one of those names.
- Browse the desktop for the CF-Auto-Root executable files found inside the same bundle that you extracted on the desktop earlier.
- Once loaded, click the Start button and the Odin tool will now flash that rooting package on your device.
- Wait between 5 and 15 minutes for your device to get rooted and the device to automatically reboot.
- Once it does reboot, take control of your Google account and start installing apps from the Google Play Store.
