T-Mobile prepaid plans will now come with free tethering of up to 2.5 GB per month. In order to use the service you will not need to do anything, it will happen automatically for you. The plan that will be required is the $70 unlimited 4G data one.
“Maintaining thousands of rate plans is the norm in the industry, but we think it creates unnecessary complexity. Simple is better, which is why we’re reducing the number of older plans in our systems. We’re giving customers on these plans the opportunity to choose a plan that best meets their needs. For the vast majority, their plan will provide similar or better features at a comparable price.”
Tethering allows users to connect their Smartphones to the internet.
Before today this tethering option was $15 a month for customers. That charge was given out by the phone carriers.
This is being called a free mobile HotSpot service.
