The first one worth a mention is an oldie but a goodie. The ROM is from well known developer, Hashcode. The ROM, Hashcode 3.0, was released back a few years ago when the Kindle Fire was first released. Hashcode, has released several fantastic aftermarket pieces and has developed a good name for himself in producing good quality. This one in particular is based on using CM9.
Keep in mind this list is in no particular order, the next addition I want to mention is called GedeRom 1.2. If you don’t want Hashcodes Rom then this is one of the better alternatives out there. It has developed a reputation on being very reliable, smooth and sturdy to use. All traits that you want to have in a custom ROM.
Many people developed issues when using the actual stock Kindle Fire Rom.If you are one of them then the GedeRom 1.2 is one you will like. There is also another GedeRom version 1.6 which I have noticed is also popular and worth a mention on other people’s lists.
One of everybody’s favourites is the Vanilla Rom. You can get the unofficial vanilla CM9 Rom for the Kindle Fire without a problem. Although an unofficial release, it is still known as being one of the best Roms out there for the Kindle Fire.
If you are the owner of the newer Kindle Fire 2, there is good news for you. Hashcode has managed to develop a CM10.1 for the second generation Kindle Fire. This ROM will give users Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Hashcode managed to come up with this beauty back in January. At the time there was no official release for this, but with a little searching you should be able to come up with the goods now we are in May, at the time of this post.
