A new software update, namely 17.1.2.A.0.314 for the Xperia Z2 D6503 is rolling out OTA to selected devices in South Korea, Thailand, Russia and Kuwait. The new firmware focuses on fixing up some minor bugs and doesn’t bring many new features with it at all. However, if you are a person who has noticed annoyances in the OS then what we have here arriving as a notification may be just what you need to get yourself back on track again and problem-free.

The Z2 is a flagship under the Sony name so they obviously like to look after it with the latest software. Sadly, it is falling behind and delays are taking even longer now to see the newest Android 4.4.3 and Android 4.4.4 Kitkat builds that are a step above where we are now. Because they needed to address bugs this software is still sitting on Android 4.4.2 Kitkat even after the installation of the over the air update we have here.

KitKat Sony Xperia Z2

Android 4.4.2 is made famous for the transparent status and navigation bars, new Location menu, white status bar icons, full screen album art, immersive mode, the camera application available from the lock screen, wireless printing and a lot more.

Furthermore, users can navigate to the menu – settings – about phone – software version and take a look if the new over the air ROM update is ready for installation. Always try and download them over the stable WiFi connection instead of using the mobile data plan.

Moreover, the software rolls out in phases so there is no telling when it will arrive for you or your friends. Be patient because it can take time to reach everybody.

Many were hoping that the new addition came with the apps to SD card feature that arrived with the T2 Ultra smartphone Android 4.4.2 Kitkat software. From all reports so far that is not the case.

In addition, we notice that the new baseband version is 8974-AAAAANPZQ-00015-10 and the kernel version is 3.4.0-perf-g35f9635. The build number we already mentioned in the title.
