The HTC One M8 news has been overshadowed over recent weeks with the launch of the HTC One E8 taking place in China over the past couple of days. That only means one thing: now it is time to fight back with some publicity going back towards the 2014 flagship from the Taiwanese manufacturer. They have done so nicely by bringing out two new colors to the Verizon edition of the M8.
The new colors are Amber Gold and Glamour Red. The gold is a very popular choice right across the list of manufacturers now after many noted how successful the iPhone 5S was when it first debuted that option back in 2013. People wanted it so badly that Apple’s order times ballooned out into the months just because of the gold option. The waiting period for the other colors was a lot less.
Both of these color variants will launch on Thursday June 5 in the US. Until then, it is time to pick which one you prefer. HTC is quietly building a traditional red version as time goes on. It isn’t a ‘normal’ color to have because it has never screamed quality. It is also a color that looks good in a glossy poly-carbonate plastic and it will be very interesting to see how it fairs in the aluminium body. It does have one thing going for it, and that is that it stands out in a crowd a lot better than the gold option.
Verizon seems to be right on board with the red option also because they released a Kyocera Brigadier along with this M8 in a similar color. The “All New One” also comes in blue and pink after originally starting out with Gunmetal Gray and Glacial Silver. But if you are a huge fan of the company known as “The Big Red” then obviously it is a great color to choose. My favorite variant of this smartphone is the HTC One M8 Harman Kardon Edition, but it was only sold exclusively with Sprint.
To serve as a refresher, the M8 sports, a Sense 6 UI running Android 4.4 KitKat. The physical display size is 5.0-inches. The dimensions are 5.76 x 2.78 x 0.37 inches, and it weighs 160 grams (slightly heavier and thicker than others in its class but it makes up for that in style). The screen resolution is 1080 x 1920 pixels and the pixel density is 441 ppi. The technology used in the screen is IPS LCD, and it comes with a light sensor and proximity sensor. The downfall is the 4 ultra pixel camera although one of our favorite fellow compatriot mobile blogs is firmly standing by reason about why the 5 ultra pixel beats the 16 megapixel S5. The truth is though even HTC have admitted defeat here because they upgraded the new E8 to sport a 13 megapixel rear-facing shooter that is looking a lot better. It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 system chip and a Quad core, 2300 MHz, Krait 400 processor. The system memory is 2048 MB RAM, and it is coupled with a maximum user storage space of 24 GB even though the built-in storage is on the cards as 32 GB. That is a lot of the OS taken up with Android and Sense-related software. The good news is that you do have added microSD, microSDHC, microSDXC storage expansion card options up to 128 GB. The battery is not user replaceable, however, it does last for more than 7 hours above average talk-time.
