It’s no secret that the Samsung Galaxy S II is an incredibly popular device when it comes to smartphone’s and is also a major player in Google’s mobile network.

The device has produced many variations on the original release which seems to work well for the Electronics giant, over 20 million customers worldwide would agree.

Details of Note

  • You will need to make sure you have the Samsung Galaxy USB drivers. This is necessary for when you connect the device to the computer. You have to connect it to the computer in order to root the device.
  • You will also need to have USB debugging mode enabled in order to complete this guide. You can follow the link through that we provided and find out how to do that if you don’t know already.

The only complaint they might have is the slow roll out of Androids Ice Cream Sandwich, due to the large number of devices that fall under the Galaxy umbrella. We have good news though for those of you who have been waiting patiently for a quick rooting method for the updated software on your Galaxy S II. Just follow the guide below:

The following is a step by step guide on Rooting the Galaxy S II i9100 

Step 1. First you will need to download the corresponding kernal for your Samsun Galaxy S II:

  • I9100XWLP7 Based Firmware (Eire, UK) CF-Root v5.4 LP7 Download HERE
  • I9100XWLP8 Based Firmware (Aus) CF-Root v5.4 LP7 Download HERE (LP8 compatible)

Step 2. Next you will need to extract the .zip file. Please ensure that your device and your PC are NOT connected at this point.

Step 3. Within the CF-Root package you will find ODIN, once located double click on .exe to launch.

Step 4. Hold the Volume up and Volume down buttons simultaneously whilst you connect your device to your PC, keep holding them until the Download Mode screen appears.

Step 5. Your device will be detected by ODIN.

Step 6. In PDA,  locate and click on the CF-Root-SGS2_*-V5.3-CWM5.tar (from step 1).

Step 7. Click on Start.
