The PACman custom ROM is a fantastic ROM which comprises the best of the best in the business. Now you can get the latest build and install it on your HTC Evo.

The information here is to be used at your own risk and we are in no way to be held accountable for any wrong doing on your own behalf. The forum won’t run you through the obvious things like enabling USB debugging Menu -> Settings-> Applications-> Enable it here. It also won’t tell you about the SUB drivers which are to be considered mandatory. There’s no way to transfer any type of files without this already installed.

PAC is an acronym for the Paranoid-Android, AOKP (Android Open Kang project) and CyanogenMod. On top of that, this specific ROM for the HTC Evo 4G LTE was based off of the AOSP Jelly Bean 4.2.2.

The next simple thing that may slip your mind is the battery and it can lead to big problems if you forget to charge it enough and it runs out during the process. Give it at least 1 hours worth of power for it be considered a sufficient amount.

Once a ROM is installed there is what is called a stabilization period where it is good to let the device sit for 5 minutes and let it calm own before it should be used. If you don’t wait, there may seem like there is any errors or it isn’t working properly, when in actual fact, if you just leave it for a few minutes it will be OK.

Some features worth an honorable mention are the Source jewel, HALO, all of the latest builds like CM10.1-RC5, AOKP MR1 and Paranoid Android 3.6.

If you haven’t tried it already, it’s time to check it out.

Download PACman from this XDA thread. When you visit the thread you will also be able to check out some of the screen shots, as well as note down all of the features it has on board.

The file will be available from the thread but don’t ignore the important information that goes along with it if you are a novice at installing custom firmware. The most important thing to do is back up all of your data. By following the guide found on the forum your device is likely to be wiped during the process. However, if you save it, then you can re-install it and no harm is done. Failing to do so could result in nothing left on your phone including any contracts or pictures.

Lastly, there is a Android 4.3 update which will have the Sense 5 to go along with it before the end of this year. That means this update should be coming within the next 6 weeks to make it in time. If that is true, you will probably want to upgrade to it once it comes so it would be a good idea to install this ROM sooner rather than later. Once you install the Android 4.3 this will be wiped again and there’s nothing you can do about it.
