We aren’t always up there with big publications when it comes to leaks because we don’t get them sent in anywhere near enough, and we don’t employ enough people to set up around the clock and wait for glimpses of images that get pulled back down in quick succession. Luckily we have fellow blogging compatriots to put in that work for us, and we love them for that.

Today we woke up to a delightful wonderment when we saw the official price of the Moto X+1 smartphone from AT&T is under $400. According to sources this page that says “we cannot find what you are searching for now,” did show the real picture of what we have included in this post below here. The image is real and looks as official as it gets. When an employee does the wrong thing or they changed their mind on the idea the only way to delete the evidence is by deleting the pages. This page takes time before it is deleted from Google search results naturally as all 404’s do and if people already grabbed on to the link then we can still show it like we are now. We know that the page did exist and that’ why that URL does ping a result that the official Motorola website can no longer find. The evidence is gone, but this holds more value to me than information given by sources.

Moto X+1

Many people loved the original Moto X that was the flagship for the Motorola name when it was a Google company and since being sold to Lenovo it seems like they have every intention at making this brand stick and continue on. It was the first attempt that the Mountain View company did though last year and this time around we would usually be expecting even better things, but since it has been handed to a new company, it will be a risk. I won’t be buying this before I assess it thoroughly and also hear what others are saying. The problem with the first edition of this smartphone was it came over priced. We love seeing mid-range handsets that take it to the to-end counterparts, but it must keep the price down. It obviously wasn’t priced up there with the flagships from Apple, Samsung and HTC or even Sony for that matter but for the middle of the pack handset it was around $50-$100 too high.

AT&T’s price of sub-$400 sure fits that bill but does that mean we won’t be seeing big improvements in performance? According to a small blog we also have some leaked specification that include a 1080p AMOLED display that is a level up from the old 720p display, GB RAM and three memory options. The memory options are 8 GB, 16 GB and 32 GB. We already know many specs ourselves from previous sources that conclude this device also has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 system chip. Built-in internet browsing includes YouTube, Picasa and Google + social networking. The multimedia has Playlists Album Art cover, Background playback, loudspeaker, earpiece and more. It does have GPS and A-GPS tracking and navigation. For connectivity there is USB Mass Storage, USB Charging, WiFi, Bluetooth, USB 2.0 and all the other bells and whistles.

The 1080p is nice, but we are now coming into times where Quad HD 2K screen resolution will be the norm before the year end, and we are already witnessing flagships use it now. It’s clear this will be a true mid-ranger at best so the price must remain low for it to succeed. As you can see from the leaked picture, it has very round corners and people hated that idea when they saw iPhone 6 mockups. However, because I cover Apple closely also in my opinion, it looks like the iPhone 6 is coming to us more rounded so maybe it will be in this year.

Even if it under performs we expect this smartphone to be picked up by Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile although unconfirmed at this time. The source for the specs and the image is not a big name publisher and goes by the name of TK tech New blog so we can’t say for certain if this is authentic.

As a refresher, last years predecessor to the Moto X+1. The Moto X came with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean but has seen numerous updates to the operating system since then including 4.3, 4.4 KitKat, 4.4.2 and now the latest 4.4.3 so it’s safe to safe that it gets looked after very well indeed in that department. It has a 4.7-inch display, 720 x 1280 pixel’s screen resolution, AMOLED display, 10 megapixel rear-facing snapper, high pixel density with over 300ppi, dual-core 1700 MHz, Krait processor, 2048 MB RAM and a Motorola X8 Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro MSM8960 system chip.
