The Files You Need

  1. Download the CF-Auto-Root tool from this page.
  2. Download the Odin flashing package from this page.
  3. Download the Samsung USB Drivers for mobile phones from this page. You download the drivers directly to the desktop computer, laptop or notebook running Windows OS. You can only follow this guide if you have a Windows PC. Likewise, it does not work on Mac OS X or Linux operating systems.

Rooting the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime (SM-G530Y)

  1. Download the CF-Auto-Root package to your computer.
  2. Since you are running Windows, it will automatically downloads to the Downloads folder. Open that folder.
  3. Click and drag the file over to the desktop.
  4. Download the Odin tool and follow the same steps you did for the rooting package. Now you have Odin on the desktop as well.
  5. Right click the mouse over both of the files and select the “extract here” option from the menu.
  6. Double-click and run the Odin package so the app is open on the computer.
  7. Download the Samsung USB Drivers on your computer so you can connect the device to the computer soon.
  8. Turn off your Grand Prime smartphone so it’s completely off and not just sleeping.
  9. Reboot the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime in download mode.
    – press the Power + Home + Volume Down for download mode. It only works if your device is off first.
  10. Connect it to the computer where you have the files waiting.
  11. Click the AP button in the Odin app on the computer.
  12. Browse the desktop for the extracted CF-Auto-Root file.
  13. Click the Start button and wait for that file to flash on your device.
  14. Soon the Odin app will give you the pass message and your device will reboot automatically if the “Auto reboot” button in the Odin app is on.
  15. Those people who do not have the Auto reboot box checked will need to reboot the device manually after you see the pass message.
  16. Now just regain control of your Google account and you’re done.
