You don’t always need a custom recovery to get root access on your Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus smartphone, but you do need it to install a custom ROM. The reason a custom recovery is so important for installing custom ROMs is because you cannot upload zip files usually from a stock recovery. That means we choose to replace the stock recovery with a custom version. It’s that custom version made by third-party developers that gives us more features — one of which is the ability to upload custom ROM zip files. If you are not wanting to install a custom ROM, you still might want a custom recovery for taking NANDroid backups. The NANDroid backup option is the default backup option inside every custom recovery. Once you take the NANDroid backup, you are taking a complete snapshot of your current ROM. It will even save your game data!

The Files You Need

  1. Download the custom recovery file you need from the XDA Developers webpage here.
  2. Download the Samsung USB Drivers you need from the Samsung Developers website here.
  3. Download the Odin flashing app from here. You can download any version of the Odin app, but choosing one of the latest versions will probably work best.
  4. These are the steps to install a custom recovery on the Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus with model number S7500. You should not follow this guide unless you have that exact same model number. You can check your model number by pointing to the Menu > Settings > About Device on the phone and looking at the model number from that screen.
  5. Applying the steps to installing a custom recovery on your device will void the warranty. You should get that warranty working again by unrooting the device, or by flashing a stock recovery on your device.

Installing A Custom Recovery On The Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus

  1. Download the Odin app on your computer and move the file from the Downloads folder over to the desktop.
  2. Do the same thing with the custom recovery file.
  3. Installing the Samsung USB Drivers so your device can connect to the computer. Just downloading them should work fine. However, if you cannot get the guide to work, it could be because those drivers didn’t start working. Try rebooting the computer and seeing if that fixes the problem.
  4. Right-click over the Odin file and select the ‘extract here’ option from the menu.
  5. Do the same thing with the custom recovery file and extract that too.
  6. Reboot the Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus in down load mode.
  7. Connect the Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus device to the computer using the USB cable.
  8. Look for the ID: COM port in the Odin app to change color — that means the drivers are working.
  9. Click the AP button and browse the desktop of the computer for the custom recovery file. Remember, this will only work if you have extracted that custom recovery file.
  10. Click the Start button in the Odin app on the computer and wait for that custom recovery to get flashed on your device.
  11. Soon you will get a pass message on the Odin display and your smartphone should automatically reboot.

Now you can unplug from the computer and use your device once more. Those of you wanting to get into the recovery mode right away can do that. Learn how to enter the custom recovery mode on the Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus.
