The following guide demonstrates how to install a custom recovery on the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition with Snapdragon processor and LTE. Once you have installed the custom recovery, you can check out what custom ROMs are available for your device. Since this is the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 we are talking about, you can expect a few third-party developers to make some great ROMs worth checking out. In addition to the custom ROMs, you can take NANDroid backups when you have a custom recovery on the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1. The Files you need
- Download the TWRP recovery for the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 here.
- Download the Odin flashing tool for your Windows computer here.
- Download the Samsung USB Drivers for mobile phones from the Samsung web page.
- The Odin flashing tool doesn’t work for Windows RT operating systems running on the Microsoft Surface tablets. It does, however, work on all other standard desktop versions of Windows from Windows XP through to the current Windows 10. In addition, it will work fine with future versions of Windows too.
- The following guide is made for the Snapdragon LTE version of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1. Do not use this guide if you have the WiFi or 3G WiFi variants.
Installing TWRP on the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition
- Download the unzip the Odin flashing tool on your PC.
- Download and unzip the custom recovery (TWRP) file on the computer.
- Run the Odin app so it will detect your device after we connect to the computer.
- Turn off the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 by holding the Power button down for ten seconds.
- Reboot the Sammy Galaxy Note 10.1 in download mode by holding the Volume Down + Home + Power buttons together.
- Don’t let go of the three buttons until you see the warning screen.
- Now let go and press the Volume Up button.
- Your device should now get past that warning screen and be ready to connect to the computer.
- Connect the Galaxy Note 10.1 to the computer with the USB cable.
- Odin should now detect your device and change the color of the ID: COM port.
- Once that happens, you can continue to the next step. If that doesn’t happen, you should try installing the Samsung drivers if you skipped that step. Those who didn’t skip it by are having trouble can try rebooting the computer and seeing if that helps the driver issue.
- Click the AP/PDA button in Odin and upload the unzipped custom recovery (TWRP) file.
- Click the Start button found in Odin and your device will soon be flashed with the custom recovery.
- Wait until you see the pass message.
- Now you can unplug from the computer and enjoy your device.
