While others are still left arguing about which operating system they prefer to use between iOS and Android, others are secretly admiring both. I enjoy both even though they are different. I also see many similarities. One thing that is definitely different is the navigation bar from the Android-based OS. Last year the status and navigation bars were white to suit Android 4.4X KitKat. Now the nav bar is changing with Android 5.0 Lollipop.

For those of you who don’t know, Android 5.0 Lollipop is this year’s software update for the Mountain View company. Even though we are now witnessing 5.0.2 coming out for some device both officially and unofficial with custom ROM installments, we haven’t seen many features change from the original 5.0. In fact, it was the 5.0.1 update that addressed nothing but bug fixes and performance enhancements. needless to say, the feature additions are coming, and it’s true that the navigation bar might be one of those that is altered like it was last year. For now, though, people who own iPhone’s can install the 5.0 Lollipop navigation bar on their device to give it a touch of Android. Here’s how:

5.0 Lollipop

As is so often the case, we cannot tweak the operating system without opening it away from the default factory restrictions put in place by the OEM. That means jail-breaking the same. Once you have the device of your choice running the latest jailbreak with Cydia you can come back here for the instructions.

  1. Tap the Cydia Search box and use the keyboard to type in the name ‘AlternateControls’
  2. Tap on the AlternateControls Cydia tweak icon
  3. Tap the top-right icon where it says ‘install.’
  4. Tap the ‘confirm’ button from the following screen.
  5. Now if you exit Cydia you will see the tweak loading, or you can Respring Dashboard/Reboot iPhone for the tweak to work.

Those who want to remove the tweak after using it can easily delete the same by tapping the Cydia > Manage > Packages > tap the AlternateControls icon > remove and the tweak is gone from your device.
