The Sony Xperia Z2 is finding the official Android 5.0.2 Lollipop software update rolling out over the air to notifications panels. The build number for the update is 23.1.A.0.690 and it comes with all your favorite Lollipop features that you already know and love from other OTA releases.

Android 5.0 Lollipop started out for the Nexus range and soon went to Motorola. Sony were late down the list, which made it even worse for those owners of flagships smartphones not from this year. All you must do is wait for the notification to arrive and tap the ‘download’ and ‘install now’ options from the display. Those of you away from a stable WiFi internet connections should put it on hold for later. That way you’ll be smart Sony smartphone owners avoiding the unwanted data charges and high network traffic.

For those who don’t already know, Sony Android 5.0 Lollipop comes with the material design UI, the same material design flowing through the app drawer, smart notifications with several new features, Android Beam, Flappy Bird Easter Egg, Android RunTime takes over from Dalvik and makes the system faster, plus much more. You also have the support for multiple user accounts, multiple device compatibility, the ability to pick up where you left off with tasks, new camera updates, new security updates, tap and go NFC payments and still more. You’ll have hundreds more features on top of all that, plus a smoother ROM making it better than the older KitKat. In addition to the stock Lollipop features, Sony probably will update many of it’s own native services and bloatware.

Two features we wanted to spend more time talking about are the new Quick Settings menu and the updated Notifications Screen. You might know somebody who owned an Apple iPhone and how great the iOS 7 update was with their own Quick Settings. Now Android Lollipop comes with a new flashlight just like iOS did, hotspot, cast screen controls, screen rotations and more from the new Quick Settings menu.

Furthermore, the new notifications let’s users turn on Priority Mode via the Volume button. That allows a selection of people to get the notifications through instead of everyone in your Android list. You also get a’do not disturb’ feature.
