If you are anywhere in the world and have the LG G3 smartphone in your pocket, you can pull it out and check the notifications panel for a newfangled system update coming in over the air. The OTA is updating the OS to a new Android 4.4.2 KitKat and comes with the build number V10L. It’s a wonder why the Life’s Good company isn’t rolling with 4.4.3 and 4.4.4 already, but we know some phone carrier networks and manufactures are electing to deploy many of the features found in the latter number under the same 4.4.2 name. The aforementioned  update in particular is much different compared to the stock 4.4.2 that we once knew with white status bar icons, wireless cloud printing, new Emoji, full screen movie art, immersive mode and more. The reason is since it comes with additional stability for next year’s Android 5.0 Lollipop software coming soon. Many users were reporting a lagging UI and that’s officially addressed in this installment.

As I previously mentioned, it doesn’t matter which region, country or area you are presently siting since it comes everywhere around the world as long as the current flagship is unlocked. Those still with locked to networks will wait for when their countries release the firmware. We know it’s coming through Thailand and parts of Europe at the moment and the US-based networks will have it soon enough. It is rolling at the same time everywhere.

Furthermore,  the more people involved in an incremental update the longer the time difference between the start of the rollout phases and the end. That means it may come to you today or it may be over a week until it reaches everybody. There’s on exact date given from the finish time.

Always try your best to install the updates using a stable WiFi connection and not the mobile data plan. Normal charges will apply for the carrier plan and since loads of people are using the network and downloading the same thing as you, that results in a less-stable connection that’s prone to requiring factory resets. When you operate from your own WiFi bandwidth it results in more stability and faster downloading speed. It’s a great idea to back up the phone contacts, SMS texts, videos, pictures, music files and settings if you are using the mobile data just in case you do lose data.

Next up is the 5.0 Lollipop that brings an innovative material design with an emphasis on creating better graphics via the software instead of relying on-screen resolution like we are seeing with today’s Quad HD displays. In addition to material design, there’s a new notification system, lock screen and more. many are hailing it as the largest change to the Android OS since the jump to Gingerbread.

As a reminder, the G3 comes with 4.4.2 out of the box after being released on the 28th of may 2014. Carrier availability in the United States extends to Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint.

Stopover at the Settings > About Phone and manually check it that way. Additionally, you can check the availability by using the LG Mobile Support Tool from your PC.
