You’ll still hear a lot of people saying how much they dislike the latest version of Windows and how they wish they could go back to using an older version that they loved, but Windows 10 is the best version of Windows yet and for quite a few reasons.

Security in Windows 10 leaves older versions of Windows for dead. And if you could give up design and navigation for better security, you should choose the extra protection every time. You should be noticing less and less malware—or what might still be known to some as just a “virus”—causing you problems, and that’s no coincidence. That alone is really all there is to know about whether or not Windows is moving in the right direction, and on top of that, there really isn’t anything wrong with design and UI experience anyway. Some say that Windows is a messy experience and Microsoft is in two minds with what it is trying to do, but having more than one way to do something is often what Microsoft intentionally does to maximize your efficiency (the shortest path to a location differs depending on where you currently are), and to make sure there’s always a way you can get to where you’re going.

Not only is security stepped up a notch in Windows 10, but you’ll even find Microsoft offering you assistance far more as well, for all those times that you still need it. Running one of the troubleshooters that is related to the problem you’re experiencing should result in a fix for it, more often than not, and without you needing to do anything but watch and wait for Windows to finish the job automatically for you. But Microsoft also has additional support available for Windows users online now as well, so you can get real-life support by Microsoft employees, even if they are located on the other side of the globe if you’re sitting in Redmond, Washington.

Most big companies will have an online presence these days, and help usually isn’t far away. If you can’t find an official website offering a free chat service, then you could perhaps reach out to them from their social media pages for a point in the right direction instead.

The Web-savvy user will find Microsoft offering free support from a search engine such as Google or Bing. But that isn’t actually what this article is about. Microsoft has created a Contact Support application that you can get access to directly from the Windows 10 operating system instead—no needing to hunt around the internet for the correct webpage this time around.

What Is Microsoft’s Contact Support

You can use the Contact Support app for anything that’s related to your accounts and billing or Microsoft’s services and its apps. If it’s technical help you’re after, then you’ll want to opt for the latter. The Services and apps can be related to Windows, Internet Explorer or Microsoft Edge, Microsoft Office or Office 365, Skype, OneDrive, Xbox and more. The accounts and billing section is there to help you with any concerns you might have about finances aka things you feel you’ve been incorrectly charged for or for when you feel as though you’ve got a query to which you’d love an answer.

How to Use Contact Support App in Windows 10

Update: The old Windows 10 Contact Support app has been updated to “Get help” with a virtual assistant. You’ll still find it the same way, by typing “Support” into the Start menu or taskbar search field.

When the Get Help application opens, you’ll then see the Virtual assistant waiting. Type the keywords that best match what you’re looking for. For example, if you have an issue relating to Xbox then type “Xbox (and the issue).”

If you’re unable to find the results you need because you feel as though your problem is too difficult to locate through the virtual assistant, then you can still get help with a real-life agent. All you have to do is ask to talk to them, and they’ll put you through.

Get your questions ready because there will be plenty of other people looking for help as well. These Microsoft support workers are going around the clock and never stop giving people support. The more prepared you can be while waiting in the queue the better so when your time comes around, they can help you as quick as possible. You’ll likely find that the support system is tiered, so the person who first connects to the chat with you might be somewhat inexperienced, and as your problem becomes one they can’t solve, you’ll get passed up the ranks until you get to someone who eventually can. They’re usually pretty good at handling this themselves without you needing to intervene but if you feel you’re day is being unnecessarily eaten up, then you might want to ask if they can put you through to a higher level of support.
