The Files You Need

  1. You must have Android SDK installed on your device. Get it from the Android developers page here. You can learn how to install Android SDK here.
  2. Download the Google USB Drivers from the official Android website here. You want to install that on your Windows PC.
  3. Download the LMY48M Factory Image from here.
  4. You are wiping all the Nexus 10 data on the device by applying the steps below. That means you must take a backup before starting or else you cannot restore any data. That data includes your pictures, videos, settings and phone contacts if you have any.

Updating the Google Nexus 10 to Android 5.1.1 LMY48M Lollipop Factory image

  1. Move the factory image over to the desktop of the computer.
  2. Right-click the mouse over the image and select the ‘extract here’ option.
  3. Move that extracted factory image over to the same file as the Android SDK.
  4. Make sure that you have USB Debugging Mode enabled on the device. Do that now by heading to the Menu > Settings > Developer Options > USB Debugging Mode.
  5. Those who cannot see a Nexus 10 Developer Options available from the Settings menu must unlock that hidden menu. Do that by heading to the Menu > Settings > About Device > tap the build number until the screen confirm you are now a developer in about 7 taps.

  11. Your Nexus 10 will boot up with the  Android 5.1.1 LMY48M Lollipop software update. That means no more custom ROM on your device. You will, however, need to log into your Google account once again and start using your device.
