Many users are complaining about a syndication.exosrv.com redirect. We have defied our malware protection recommendations and looked into the domain itself. It turns out it’s just a blank domain with no website. Immediately that tells me that the syndication.exosrv.com must be part of an adware syndication service. It’s also possible that the syndication.exosrv.com domain used to be active with content on it which is why some people may have been redirected to it.
Either way, whether the syndication.exosrv.com domain is part of a syndication service or you notice your computer is directly redirected to it, it means you have malicious files on your computer related to adware. And that means you need to use an adware removal tool to get rid of it.
There are various adware removal tools you can use. We recommend Spybot – Search & Destroy to Windows users. You could also use AdwCleaner which is another program we have lots of confidence in recommending. Mac users don’t have either of those programs available and will instead need to use another program such as Malwarebytes.
Sometimes antimalware tools like Malwarebytes do deliver false positives. Malwarebytes has even flagged my own domain in the past which was extremely unusual. So you don’t have to panic just because Malwarebytes says something is potentially dangerous. I visited the syndication.exosrv.com domain and I’m not worried I have malware. However, if you have a redirect in particular, then you need to remove it with an adware removal tool or a reliable antimalware tool that doubles as adware protection. Redirects are easy to identify: it means when you open your browser, either the homepage, search engine or new tab pages will redirect to sites you didn’t actually choose. In that case, you would find your browser automatically redirect to the syndication.exosrv.com domain.

I’m not sure how I got this on my computer. I don’t usually download shareware anymore because I noticed I kept getting my phone number ringing as though it was being shared around. Maybe that’s their little in-joke when you download shareware. I think after a few years I finally stopped getting random emails and phone calls from a million different people even though I only downloaded roughly 3 products.
I saw another site claim this is bundled into freeware which is similar to shareware. Freeware probably comes with more catches than shareware. But I never downloaded any freeware. I don’t even really know what that is.
