The LG G3 is about to lead the way in smartphone technology for a little while so it deserves more attention than it is getting. Throwing in a brand new titanium color choice into the mix might be a good way to do that. Of course, this isn’t just gimmick or marketing strategies because the new color is going to look great if the picture we have shown it is anything to go by at this time.

I think smartphone manufacturers got a glimpse of how successful or more “premium” color choice can be when the world noticed how ridiculously long the waiting period was for the Gold iPhone 5S. At one point, people were waiting past the weeks and into the months whereas any of the other color options were a lot less. Do people love gold more than blue and green in the real world? No, it wouldn’t even be close. However, when we put these colors on a device that we paid lots of money for all of as sudden it becomes something we want to have. That’s understandable and we should see a similar thing here to help boost sales at least for the Sprint phone carrier that is selling the G3 because no other phone carriers have signed up to the Titanium yet. If we were to guess there is a good chance other do either very soon or after they witness the success that Sprint has. We aren’t tipping this to go any other way.

Titanium LG G3

It’s a known fact that the G3 is going on sale for all four major US carriers when the release date kicks off tomorrow, but there is something extra unique about the Sprint version that separates itself from the Verizon and potentially all of the others. The two I’ve just mentioned are the ones that we have seen leaks for already and we know that the Verizon edition has no stamp on the back whereas as Verizon logo is visible on the back of theirs. Personally I like the look of logos and when it’s the carrier I enjoy being with that is accentuated even more. However, this is just personal preference so we are sure to see a mixed bag of results and maybe that is the point of it all. It is unusual to see a company not give themselves free advertising on the outer shell so we will have to play the waiting game and see exactly what that is about.

There isn’t much we don’t already know about this Sony flagship as is so often the case. If you are interested I will let you in on everything we know so far assuming that rumors are correct. It will come out of the box with an Android 4.4.2 Kitkat operating system and that is the latest Android has to offer anybody although we see tiny minor updates coming to many devices still under the 4.4.2 name. The same will likely take place here yet again after people start owning them. The design dimensions are 5.76 x 2.94 x 0.35 inches.

The display is 5.5-inches and a Quad HD 1440 x 2560 pixel’s screen resolution. We know the others such as Samsung and HTC will chase that down before too long with a new S5 and M8 respectively. But give all the credit to Sony for being first out with it and also managing to rustle up the feathers of the other two companies who were made to bring out 2 flagships in the same year just to compete with it. The results aren’t in just yet, but that will be sure to leave many owners of the previous S5 and M8 feeling hard done by when they see what’s happening. Capping off the rest of the display features is a pixel density of 538 ppi (that is huge and the biggest I’ve ever seen) as well as IPS LCD technology. It also has a multi-touch touchscreen and a light sensor and proximity sensor.

The camera specs are not as big a deal of a smartphone feature as we thought it would be according to recent poles on what people want. Battery was by far and away the features people cherished the most and I’ll get to that in a minute. For now the rear-facing snapper is 13 megapixels and it also comes with a front-facing snapper at 2.1 megapixels. It does come with an optical image stabilization and a camcorder. As for the battery, it has a capacity of 3000 mAh and it does come with built-in wireless charging.

We are getting several features that are new technology with this new effort from Sony and that is high. Now lets take a look at the hardware.

The system chip is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 8974 and that I accompanied by a Quad core, 2300 MHz, Krait 400 processor. The graphics processor is also a new benchmark at Adreno 330 and it comes with a whopping 3072 MB RAM of system memory. The built-in storage space starts at 32 GB and they have not bothered to release a 16 GB version and we say good riddance. The amount of people that complain about how to use expansion storage because the internal memory is run out is astounding and hopefully we can say goodbye to only having 16 GB as an option to all smartphones very soon. Although the minimum is a good 32 the maximum external expansion microSD, microSDHC, microSDXC option is only 64 GB. It is disappointing as we are used to seeing 128 GB being offered in other flagships. With that being said, the vast majority of people should be able to live with having a maximum of 96 GB combined data storage for pictures, music, video and all other data.

The other two carriers that we didn’t mention this handset will be coming out with is AT&T and T-Mobile. The release date is penciled in for May 27. If you’re thinking about buying this handset I say good for it. It has lots going for it and it deserves all the credit this time.
