The Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom is receiving a new firmware build, namely C101XXUBNF4 over the air to selected devices, but if you want to cut to the chase, you can install the file manually so there’s no more waiting around for the notifications. Furthermore, those of you running root access will not receive any OTA notes because the signals don’t arrive.

Users should know that if you don’t want to follow a guide you can navigate to Settings > About phone > Software updates > Check for software updates and check manually if it is ready to install on your smartphone. Moreover, if you already received the notification, but elected to not install it when it arrived you will have to follow these steps to begin the installation because it will not come in as a notification twice.

Android 4.4.2 KitKat is our favorite update since the original KitKat commenced because it didn’t shy away from adding new features. There are new white status bar icons, transparent status and navigation bars, cloud printing, immersive mode, new Easter Egg details, full screen album art available from the lock screen and movie art there too. In addition, there is the new Location menu, color Emoji support, performance boosts, new versions of Samsung apps, enhanced Samsung Keyboard and better battery life.

  • People should know that the file size is over 800MB; therefore, it will take some time before it completes. Grab yourself a cup of coffee while you wait for it to end. If you decide to choose the OTA way instead make sure you install it over the home WiFi connection so that it doesn’t use up a large portion of the mobile data plan. Also, it runs the risk of cutting out if the connection is not stable such as the WiFi connection from home.
  • Make sure you have the up to date Samsung USB drivers so that we can make a successful connection between the phone and the computer system unit.
  • Correspondingly, visit the Develop Options menu and enable USB Debugging Mode.
  • In like manner users can install Samsung Kies and get the drivers that way. It also doubles as a great way to backup the contacts and thus eliminating the need to do that elsewhere.
  • Moreover, those of you who have lots of data on your phones such as photos, videos, music, text messages, voice calls and other sensitive data should backup completely using the device’s internal memory. The Zoom offers 8 GB of internal space and 5 GB of used by the owner after Sammy is finished using the other 3 GB with native software and applications. That doesn’t leave a great deal of room so they included storage expansion slots for MicroSD, microSDHC and microSDXC memory cards that can hold up to 64 GB of additional space.
  • If you still need more space Google Drive is offering 15 GB of free space for new users who sign up to their service at the moment. Drive offers an excellent way to store extra documents and data on the house. However, if you are still bamboozled with backing up try using helpful apps from Google Play such as Titanium and Helium.
  • Be sure to have a WIndows PC and not a Mac OS X operating system or a Linux-based kernel either. The reason is that Odin, the tool we are using, is only made for WIndows-based machines starting at WIndows XP and finishing with the latest WIndows. While Xp works we do recommend starting at Vista if you want to save files to the C: Drive because it is much easier to handle.
  • The S4 Zoom comes with USB charging so there’s no need to store battery power before starting. However, if the USB charging feature is not working then it’s a good idea to play it safe an make sure there’s at least 505 battery charge before continuing from this point.
  • Temporarily disable any computer protection that is keeping the OS safe such as antivirus, spyware and malware protection. It is not a trick way to hack inside your machines, but rather trying to stop the programs interfering with the Odin application. Once the guide is concluded you can fire them up once again. In fact, make a mental note of it so that you don’t start browsing the web without protection from trojans.
  • I have personally checked that the file does not contain any hidden nasties such as viruses. It is an official file issued by the Samsung developers.
