The Files You Need
- Download the Root Package you need.
- You can only follow this guide if you have a Windows PC. The rooting file won’t work on any other operating system.
- Download the Acer USB Drivers on the computer. That way your Acer Iconia A500 tablet.
Rooting The Acer Iconia A500
- First you will need to download the rooting tool to the desktop of the computer.
- Once downloaded you will need to extract the files from the root package and save them somewhere easy to locate such as your desktop.
- At this stage you will need to make sure you have your USB debugging switched on your device. To achieve this go to ‘Menu’ > ‘Settings’ > ‘Applications’ > ‘Development’ > ‘USB debugging’.
- Now using the USB cable, connect your device to your PC.
- Now simply go to the desktop folder where you have extracted the Root Package to.
- If you are using a PC running Windows you will need to double-click the ‘runit-win.bat’file.
- If you are using a PC running Linux you will need to double-click the ‘runit-linux.sh’ file.
- Once complete, head to the Play Store and download the Superuser App.
Once you have finished, you can download the root checker app and make sure that it worked. Just launch the root checker app from the app drawer after downloading it from the Google Play Store.

Yes, it’s not uncommon for rooting exploits to set off anti-virus. In fact, if you research this exploit you will see that it is even labeled as a rooting exploit from anti-virus and nothing more.
