Thanks to a developer that goes by the name gganon over at XDA Developers, we have a unique guide to obtain root access for the Galaxy Ace without a computer.  This is an incredibly simple method and will see your device rooted in no time.

Details of Note

  • You will also need to have USB debugging mode enabled in order to complete this guide. This helps to connect your Android phone with the PC.
  • You will need to make sure you have the Samsung Galaxy USB drivers. This is necessary for when you connect the device to the computer. You have to connect it to the computer in order to root the device.

Before you begin

Please ensure you have at least 75% battery life on your device so it doesn’t switch off during the rooting procedure.

How to Root Samsung Galaxy Ace On Gingerbread Without a Computer

Step 1. First you will need to download the root package:

Step 2. You will need to place it on your devices SD Card.

Step 3. Switch off your device and then boot it into ‘Recovery Mode’. To achieve this simply hold down the ‘Home’ + ‘Power’ buttons at the same time until the dives turns on and you can see the Samsung logo. Then, whilst still holding down ‘Home’, release the‘Power’ button. You will see the Samsung Galaxy Ace logo flicker on the screen before it lands on the Recovery Mode menu.

Step 4. Using the ‘Volume Up’ and ‘Volume Down’ buttons to navigate, scroll to ‘apply update from sd card’ (the second option) and press ‘Home’ to select.

Step. 5 Locate the root.zip file you downloaded in step 1 and select it by pressing the‘Home’ button.

Step 6. Wait for it to install. Once it is done select ‘Reboot System Now’ from the Recovery Mode menu.

Step 7. Your device will reboot and then you will be able to see the Superuser app in your app drawer if it was successful (it’s the Android pirate with cross-bones incase you were wondering).
