The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge is the most modernistic smartphone we’ve seen to date. It reminds us of something straight out of a techno-thriller movie. Needless to say we love the design, and what better way to modernize the internal hardware than to open it up with root access? By taking away Sammy’s new love affair from the default factory restrictions we are opening it up for custom ROMs, custom apps you can’t otherwise use and custom firmware. Since it’s a popular device, the options are limitless as countless third-party Devs work hard every day to give a custom experience they are proud of for the users.

Many arguments filter across the internet about “where is the other side?” Of course, our title plays fun at there only being one edge for the time being. Hardly fair to left handlers, and for that we are sorry. However, we love this device and are just poking fun.

  • Just like many other how-to guides on site, we must run you through a list of essentials so you know how to prepare yourselves and have the right equipment. Furthermore, it doubles as more information you otherwise might not know;  you can choose to go against your original wishes of opening up the ROM.
  • On that note: the first thing worth mentioning is voiding the warranty. Following the steps does exactly that. By opening up the system internals you step outside the box of where Google and Samsung want you. That’s why if something does go wrong from here they won’t look at your device. You can revert back to stock firmware and take the root access away once more. Now they will look at it under warranty so long as theirs time remaining. Since this is a new device we know there is time left.
  • We are using a simple One-Click root solution brought to you by Chainfire. The official tool name is CF-Auto-Root and it’s designed to give users an experience that’s close to stock Android. If you prefer doing something else you can try looking for alternate methods. Chainfire’s one of our favorite developers and is responsible for some key tools such as SuperSu, Triangle Away and more.
  • Want more bonuses of using Chainfire’s way? The steps are relatively easy to follow and you can finish up from here in a short time. You don’t have to be an advanced Android user to follow much of his work. However, we recommend you find somebody with experience in modding and customizing ROMs since things do go wrong occasionally. The worst case scenario being bricking the handset. You ought to look at the XDA Developers forum if you find yourself soft-bricking the handset.
  • Moreover, we are not responsible for your data loss or any damage as a result of after the steps from our page. You follow them on your own accord. That said, we do our utmost to offer correct and helpful material for all to enjoy.
  • You ought to stopover at the menu > Settings > Developer Options > Enable USB Debugging Mode. It’s essential for connecting to the computer. Additionally, you must have the up-to-date USB Drivers. The USB Drivers are available from the official website, third-party links here or you already have them. Most modern handset install them for you once you connect to the computer. You can check if yours are working by connecting to the computer and trying to get access to the phones data from My Computer > Phone Drive. If you are accessing the pictures the drivers are working. Sine it’s a Sammy-based device you can install Samsung Kies and download the drivers that way. Just remember to disable Kies before starting the steps.
  • Correspondingly, you ought to stop security programs from running until you finish. That means stopping antivirus from the Android apps drawer and visiting the Windows system tray and clicking the virus protection icon. Don’t forget to turn it on again before browsing the internet or else you risk exposure to Trojan Horses.
  • You have no choice but to use a Windows PC. The CF-Auto tool doesn’t work for Linux or Mac. Use any notebook, laptop or desktop with a USB slot that’s running Windows XP through to Windows 8.
  • The “N915S” marks the model number of the smartphone. You must follow the steps only for that model number. You see, each phone has different software and that software is where the developers find exploits. Each mobile requires a new exploit and generally that means every time. Verify your model number by turning the smartphone on and navigating to menu > Settings > About Device.
  • Test out apps such as Screen cast video Recorder, Honey Bar, Game On, WiFi protector, Undelete, call master, Mobile Odin Pro and Avast! Mobile Security to help you get the most our of your device.
  • Don’t start anything until you backup everything on the phone. Make copies of the data to internal storage. Unlike the ROM itself, the internal storage doesn’t get wiped when we take a factory reset. We don’t have to take a factory reset naturally, but when/if something goes wrong, a factory reset is often the escape. That’s why it’s important for you to back up the phone contacts, EFS folder, pictures, music, videos, SMS texts and more. There are several apps available from Google Play to help you. Try using Helium for syncing the contacts and backing up the market applications. Use SMS backup+ for storing the text messages you want to keep. If you need extra storage space you can take advantage of the free Google Drive service for a limited amount of GB’s. Alternatively you can back up the usual way that suits you.
  • Just under 2,000 people are unlocking the system internal with this method to date. That number is growing fast since it’s a new file.
