The Sony Xperia Z3 DD6653 came out of the box with Android 4.4.4 KitKat, which as you know, is the final build number. Today the PTCRB certified a new 23.0.A.2.108 build that will stay on the same number, but bring in additional bug relief and minor tweaks. We know we are in the countdown to Android 5.0 Lollipop that is coming to every “Z’ phone Sony made over the years during 2015. However, owners are currently suffering from bugs and that’s why the Japanese multinational conglomerate corporation continue to bring in support.

You should know that this is merely the certification stages and no release is imminent. In fact, there’s no guarantee this build notices the light of day at all. When it officially begins arriving OTA to devices notifications panel we will create a new post explaining everything including the features inside.

Z3

The new iteration from Sony Mobile bumps handsets up from 23.0.A.2.93 or, 23.0.A.2.98, 23.0.A.2.105 to the aforementioned number 23.0.A.2.108.

Certifying and releasing are two different things. As I previously mentioned, a certification doesn’t mean it will see a release at all. However, a large number of them do come out to the wild for people to use on their handsets. It can take numerous weeks for a new firmware version to arrive over the air after the PTCRB finishes.

I remind you that the Z3 packs a  5.2-inch IPS LCD display with 1080 x 1920 resolution. Sony’s water and dust proof flagship for 2014 is underpinned by a Snapdragon 801 system chip.
