Samsung’s year to date has offered a lot of confusion, but that hasn’t transpired into lots of devices yet. Many Sammy fans are asking for a metal body premium smartphone and the rumor mill has long suggested it was coming. Those rumors were then tangled in a web of a mixture of device names and from there nobody understood what was happening.

It appears that a ‘prime’ version of the current plastic Samsung Galaxy S5 is coming and it is called the Galaxy Alpha and under the same S5 name. It’s a beautiful smartphone with a metallic, metal-based finish if the leaks are anything to go by.

Samsung Galaxy Alpha

Reminiscent of a refractor baseball card, the Alpha reeks of quality and a supreme finish that is sure to rival the iPhone 6 that Apple are planning on unveiling soon. That is likely the main motivation behind this Aplha handset after all. However, arguably the most interesting aspect about this phone is how consumers will take to Sammy launching two handsets in the same year. Making matters worse, they continually denied that another S5 variant is coming. That’s looking like a fat lie now.

If you look at the main photo, it shows a cool looking LTE stamp in white. That is the best logo I’ve ever seen. Design no doubt is a focal point and the cornerstone of this handset because the earlier S5 received mixed reviews.

According to reports, the Samsung Alpha has a 4.7-inch display, 720 x 1280 pixels screen resolution, 306 ppi pixel density and Super AMOLED technology in the display.

Furthermore, the camera is 16 megapixels on the rear and 2 megapixels on the front. the rest of the camera specs are largely the same including an LED flash, Autofocus, face detection, Geo tagging and optical image stabilization.

Comparatively, the hardware brings a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 APQ8084 system chip, Quad core, 2500 MHz, Krait 450 processor, 3072 MB RAM system memory and 32 GB of internal storage space that gives 25 GB of maximum user space.

At this point, we are all but certain that the long-awaited new S5 is on its way so there’s no more conspiracy. We were certain of this since the beginning of the year, but many people wouldn’t believe us. One thing for sure: it will look different from the renders that EvLeaks showed off if these pictures are true.

As for the OS, we are expecting Android 4.4.4 KitKat to come out of the box as it will likely see its release before the Android L comes out. However, when it does come out this handset will be first in line for the OTA arrival and that’s another exciting aspect to wait for.
