As we speak the new Android 4.4.2 Kitkat update, namely XXUCNG2 is rolling out OTA for the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini Duos I9192 smartphone. It is not the freshest version of KitKat as we are starting to see Android 4.4.4 distributed to many devices these days. However, this build has the most features and the next two following this carry far less weight along with them.

We’ve just seen HTC cleverly integrate 4.4.4 inside the 4.4.3 build for the international M8 variant and sadly that isn’t the case here. However, we do have lots of new features to fill you in on if you haven’t researched what comes with this version until now.

The version of Kitkat we have here come with white status bar icons, wireless printing, new multi-window support, default home launchers, default messaging app support, lock screen tweaks such as the camera app, closed captioning support and upgraded Samsung apps. In addition to this, it also comes with expanded Emoji, a new landscape keyboard, a new font in the notification tray, updated Easter Eggs accessed from the Settings, immersive mode, transparent status and navigation bars and more.

Just like any software update, expect this one to rollout in phases. It will take its time to work its way around to all devices so be patient. The good news is that it beats out the official Mini handset for this software and that is an unexpected surprise for many including us.

Users can check the incoming notifications for alerts on when the new firmware is available to download and install. If you choose to save it for later you will then have to navigate your way to Settings > More > About phone > Software updates > Check for software updates and manually accept the update from there.

If you own one of these handsets and have already installed the new build please leave a comment and let us know your experiences. It will be the most feature-rich experience for Android goers to the new Android L has officially found its way onto public handsets.

As for this build, we’ll do our best to come up with a help guide so those looking to install the file separately can do that too. Stay tuned!
