These are the steps to root the Samsung Galaxy Chat smartphone with the model number GT-B5330 running on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating systems.

The guide will enable and install SuperSU on your device, thanks to Chainfire’s CF-Root tool. This guide gives you an updated version of the CF-Root tool that Chainfire made for the current and up to date firmware.

  • Downgrade your device to firmware build number JZO54K.B5330XXUBMD2 running on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean if you are not running that already. You can find the exact match firmware from the Sam Mobile website and flash it using the same Odin flash tool in this guide.

Files You Need

  1. Download the updated Chainfire CF-Root for GT-B5330 on 4.1.2 from this page.
  2. Download the Odin 3.09 for your Chat smartphone from this page.
  3. Download your universal ADB Driver for the computer so your Chat device can talk with the computer and the Odin flash tool.

Rooting the Samsung Galaxy Chat GT-B5330 running on Android 4.1.2

  1. Download all the files to your Windows computer and shift them over to the desktop.
  2. Extract the Odin, rooting file and run the ADB Driver on the computer.
  3. Enable the Developer Options on your Chat smartphone by tapping on the Menu > Settings > About Device > Tap the build number seven times.
  4. Enable the USB Debugging Mode on your Chat smartphone by tapping on the Menu > Settings > Developer Options > USB Debugging Mode.
  5. Leave the Developer Options menu and the Galaxy Chat will remember your preferences.
  6. Boot the Samsung Galaxy Chat in download mode by pressing the Power + Home + Volume Down after you turn off the device.
