If you need convincing with regards to rooting your Micromax A90 smartphone, you have come to the wrong place. We don’t force people into rooting devices or installing custom ROMs. We don’t even recommend everyone roots to install more apps. Just like with most things in life, somethings make sense for some people to do, while doing that same thing — whatever it is — would be a stupid thing to do for others. Rooting Android devices isn’t for everybody because not everybody knows enough information about the internet nor the Android operating system. I’ll give you a prime example of what I mean.
Just yesterday my father called me over to his room as I was getting a drink. I was in somewhat of a rush since I had just come out of my room half way through the last quarter of a basketball game and during a time out. Fathers don’t understand these things, though. If I don’t give him the time of day and rush him he’ll quickly think I’m an asshole. So I make my way over to his door where he sits on his bed due to a broken leg and I try my best to look as polite as possible — though I know his eyes are going to struggle seeing me properly from that distance anyway.
Point of the story is he says to me “Mathew, I have an advertisement on my phone that says get a Samsung Galaxy S6 smartphone for $1! But the deal is only for today only”. If you could only hear the tone of his voice as he says this with about as much excitement as a ten-year old child would if they knew their favorite toy was going to be available in the shopping mall as of today. It took me all of three seconds pondering what I has just heard before I turned and walked away — and to my knowledge probably looking like an asshole to him again. Rather than attempt to explain to somebody what is happening, I’d chosen to not miss the final minutes of my ball game.
For someone like me, it’s easy to see that the advertisement that caught my father’s eye is a lie and it will either want me to sign up and register an email where I will then receive 5 emails per day based on something that’s nothing to do with a $1 Galaxy S6, or it would be something along the lines of “buy the Galaxy S6 for $1 and don’t pay the other $999 until 2016”. For me that was easy to know – I see these types of things every day. For my father, however, things are different. He hasn’t a clue the kind of scams that are found online and that the world isn’t anywhere near as innocent as he would hope. There are two characters in this story and one of those characters should not have root access on an Android device. I’ll leave you to decide who that is, but I’ll give you the reason why. With root access you lose some security. The malware we can get on our smartphones usually comes from apps and if you get malware on your device, you can allow far greater access to that app and in turn it can do more damage.
The Files You Need
- Download the latest Framaroot application from its home at XDA Developers here.
Rooting the Micromax A90
- Download the Framaroot apps to the desktop of your computer.
- Enable the Unknown Sources option on your device by heading to the Menu > Settings > Security > Unknown Sources.
- Connect your Micromax A90 smartphone to the computer with the USB cable.
- Transfer the Framaroot APK file over to the root of your devices SD card. That means keep it in the topmost folder. Do not hide it in one of the A90 sub folder on the SD card or else you will not find it later.
- Installing the APK file on your device. You might also want t check out the best file managers for Android and get it done with a file manager. Direct down load links are on the page.
- Once you have the app on your device, tap and open the app.
Tap on the “Boromir” option. - Wait for the Exploit Result success message on the devices display, signifying that you do have root access on the device.
- Navigate back to the app drawer and look for the SuperSU app that looks a bit like a Super Man symbol. If you can see that SuperSU symbol, your devices is rooted.
