The HTC JetStream is an Android tablet that was introduced in the middle of 2012. The JetStream is also known as the HTC Puccini and runs on Android 3.1 Honeycomb.

Before you being there’s a few things you will need to get done first. You must have an unlocked bootloader on your JetStream tablet as well as ADB with fastboot installed. ADB is what lets you type in the command line. Unfortunately, there are a few devices that need this still to this day in order to obtain root access and this is one of them. That said, it’s only a few simple commands and the root is not a difficult process after installing these things. So without further adieu here is the guide.

Files You Need

  1. Download the Insecure Kernel and the Root Toolkit from the links provided.
  2. Download the universal ADB driver on the computer for your device to install the drivers.
  3. Make sure the USB Debugging Mode is enabled on the HTC JetStream by navigating to the Menu > Settings > Developer Options > USB Debugging Mode.
  4. Those of you who don’t have the Developer Options unlocked can unlock the same by heading to the Menu > Settings > About Device > Tap your finger over the build number 7 times and it will eventually say you are now a developer.
  5. The following guide does void the warranty on your HTC JetStream device. You should get to unroot the HTC device and that warranty will start working once again.

Rooting the HTC JetStream

1. Download the Insecure kernel and the toolkit to the computer and extract them on the desktop.

2. You need to change the name of the Insecure Kernel to nsecure.img.

3. Now copy the Insecure kernal over to the folder which you have the ADB installed inside.

4. Now you need to connect your device to the PC with the USB cable supplied, however, before doing so enable USB debugging mode on the HTC JetsStream tablet.

5. Now where ADB has been installed, open up the command line from it. From the command line type the following commands and press enter:

adb reboot bootloader

fastboot boot insecure.img

6. Your JetStream tablet will now boot. Once it has booted click on the runme.bat file. This will now start the root process. Wait patiently for the root to complete.

7. Go and enjoy the many plentiful fruits it has to offer.

Now just install the root checker app from the Play Store and it will let you know if this Insecure kernel worked for your HTC device. If it does say your HTC device has root access, you can start installing the root-requiring apps from the Google Play Store and other third-party sources.
