We reported earlier that Android 4.3 had been officially launched, well now we have the first device it has rolled out for OTA — the Galaxy Nexus I9250. The new firmware which you can install onto it is called the Android 4.3 JWR66V build. We also ran through a list of features which is in store for everyone that goes ahead with it. You can check out what this new update which was rolled out by Google earlier today entails.
As far as we know this is the first tablet to have gotten it so far. My write-up also says what Google will have in store for new Nexus tablets in the near future and it’s an interesting read. One of the main things in the new 4.3 Jelly bean is directly related to the new Nexus range said to be coming very soon.
OTA is short for over the air and it simply means that you can check your settings icon and see if the JWR66V update has arrived to your device. Keep an eye on the notification bar for the message alerting you that the new software is available. Always press the confirm button when your network is using the WIFi data and not the mobile data. Home WiFi systems are more stable and therefore the preferable option. It results in less factory resets. if a factory reset is required is can result in data loss. make sure you backup all the phones data before confirming the OTA installation for that reason. Make copies of the phone contacts, market applications, picture galleries, music files and SMS texts so you don’t lose them.
As usual, these updates roll out in stages. That means it takes time before it makes it way to every smartphone or tablet and no two people get it at the same time. It can take days or even weeks before it finishes rolling out to everyone. For those wishing to skip the waiting process, or if you live in a region where the update s not available, you can always download manually.
