SkyDrive is an online service by Microsoft, which provides you 25GB of free online storage for your files. You can upload all type of files to the cloud with SkyDrive. For instance, you can upload your pictures, videos, documents to the SkyDrive and share them with your friends, relatives. All this is at free of cost.

To use the SkyDrive, you have to go to its website and login with your Windows Live ID or Hotmail ID. After logging in, you will see your SkyDrive page containing all the folders you have created and the files. You can choose to create a new folder, delete an existing folder or to upload files in a folder from the web interface.

The SkyDrive utility is available as a web version only. So, you cannot do any task with it from your desktop without going to its website. However, there is a simple tool available called SDExplorer, which allows you to do almost all the tasks you can do on the web interface of the SkyDrive.

You can create new folders, upload files, delete folders and rename files, too. All this comes with the SDExplorer. It is a freeware software available for the Windows users.

To start using the SDExplorer, just download it using the link given below, after that initiate the setup file and follow the on-screen instructions. After installing it, launch it.

The first screen will ask you to provide your Windows Live ID login credentials, just fill them in and click on Sign In button. It leads to the explorer view of your SkyDrive.
