A great deal of the rooting guides we have here on site are done with Chainfire’s CF-Auto or the CF-Root packages. Chainfire’s is one of the most talented third-party developers in the world and his tools have amassed millions of downloads combined. What you may not know is the aforementioned developer is also responsible for several other tools. One of the most popular being SuperSU.

As you know, SuperSU is only available for those with root access. With it users can update the binaries that may be preventing a full unlock of the system internals after one completes a rooting guide. Additionally, it gives access rights or “permissions” to the applications existing on your smartphone or tablet with require rooting for them to work. SuperSU succeeds the earlier Superuser.apk access management tool that is no longer working. The SU variant gives us advanced management compared to that of the previous “user” option.

Nexus 6 SuperSu

After you download the application it handles everything for you. There’s no need to do anything. The same happens with APK files. However, installing the file is different and requires more work than simply installing the official app from the Google Play Store. The steps for installing the APK is at the bottom of the page.

Firstly, I’ll guide you through some troubleshooting In case you find the “Unfortunately, SuperSU has stopped” error. The error message is most common among those running the CF-Auto-Root tool and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean or 4.4 KitKat. Since most smartphones are without Android 5.0 Lollipop still, we know that covers countless people and devices. You ought to download the Superuser.apk on your desktop computer to begin fixing the problem. Next you must connect the Android device of your choice to the computer and transfer the file to the internal memory. Install the file using a file explorer such as ASTRO file manager.  Navigate your way to the Settings followed by the Clean Up menu. Tap the re-install option.  It is cleaning up the recent installation that went wrong. Now go to the Google Play Store and download the latest version of SuperSu and install it. Now watch as it fixes the issue and stops the Knox security that’s preventing the root from succeeding.
