The Cydia Impactor is an application for Windows, Linux, and Mac that roots the Android operating system to give full administrative permissions over the OS. Additionally, you can use the Cydia Impactor for other common tasks related to rooting such as using Fastboot to boot images and unlocking the bootloader.

Cydia Impactor interface on Windows

The Cydia Impactor app is developed by Jay Freeman. He is best known for his Cydia app store, which acts as a gateway to oodles of software that can be installed on jailbroken Apple devices. While you can’t use the same version of the Cydia store on Android, Jay has built something called the Cydia Impactor, which is a similar thing. With the Cydia Impactor, you can root the Android OS up to Android 5.0 (Lollipop).

In addition to rooting Android, the Cydia Impactor can also create a bridge connection between the mobile device and computer thanks to its built-in Universal USB Driver, unlock the bootloader, and flash various types of files including recovery files, update files, root files et cetera without having to boot to Fastboot Mode as you would with other methods of the same tasks elsewhere.

The Cydia Impactor has been updated several times. We have all releases available. Install the most recent release (the higher the number, the more recent the release is) to ensure the best chance of compatibility for your device.
