The Redmi Note hasn’t seen a great deal of updates since then, but you can keep the updates rolling by installing a custom ROM on your Redmi Note instead. As you probably know, a custom ROM removes the stock ROM completely and gives your device a new user-interface and new features. Some people go searching for the best Xiaomi Redmi Note custom ROMs purely to see what firmware they could be running, while others will want to test out new features they haven’t yet tried.
Files You Need
- You always need to have a custom recovery installed on the Xiaomi Redmi Note before you can get any custom ROMs installed on your device.
- You may sometimes be asked to have root access on your Xiaomi Redmi Note before you can install a custom ROM, but that depends on which ROM you are installing.

Although this is an unofficial build of CM 13, it is still its bug free and smooth to use on your Redmi Note handset.

Android Ice Cold Project (AICP 11):
The AICP ROM is one of the most highly customize-able custom ROMs for the Redmi Note ever built. Based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, this custom ROM consists of tons of customizing options in the settings menu. You can customize your phone from the status bar battery icon to the navigation bar buttons functionality. There is also a theme engine in this ROM to theme your phone fully with one touch.

LolliCraft ROM:

CM 11 custom ROM is based on Android 4.4 KitKat and runs really fast — even if you are working on two apps side by side using multi window feature.

FIUI 2.32 ROM:
When I first heard the name of this ROM I laughed a lot because I haven’t checked out the features and screenshots until then. However, now that I have gone through them, I realized that this custom ROM is real neat simple and full of features. And the full name of this custom ROM is Future Inspired User Interface and this name fits the ROM perfectly.
Features: Android 4.4 KitKat-based, super fast charging (even more fast with ART enabled), overnight battery drain lowers to nil, call UI is smooth with no lag, slim notification bar (real slim and awesome), super fast booting, Sony Walkman with clear+ technology.
Galaxy S5 ROM:
If you fancy Samsung Galaxy S5’s TouchWiz UI, then this custom ROM will do the trick for you. You can experience the whole TouchWiz UI with this custom ROM. Not only the UI, but you will also get some features of the Samsung Galaxy S5 with this custom ROM like smart stay, multi-window, floating window and more.
Features: Fully rooted, power saving mode, working S-Voice, power optimization script, stable and smooth, update SD card read speed, fast and smooth, init.d script and busy box, zip aligned and deodexed.
Xperia Z3 Experience:
If you think you might enjoy using an Xperia Z3 themed custom ROM, then you should go for this custom ROM before any other ROM. This custom ROM is seriously themed as Sony Xperia Z3 with lots of Xperia Z3 stock apps added in the firmware. There is only a small bug in this custom ROM is that Sony Walkman visualizer force close the app, but don’t worry, this is not a major bug.
