Motorola Moto G owners right around Australian and beginning to see the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update come as a system notification coming in over the air. It will be the last stage of the chocolate firmware before we start seeing Android L appearing as the new software. Android 4.4.4 comes with a revamped blue and white phone dialer that makes a good impression of the blue we see in Google Search and is often associated with the Mountain View company. Moreover, there is a new feature that lets users pause recording video.

The update is 167 MB in size and arrives OTA. if you do not accept the download and install process right away you will have to navigate to the Settings > About Phone > System Updates and check it there manually. It will not come back again twice as a notification.

Software updates rollout in stages, meaning it may come to you today or it may come at a later date. Today is the first we saw from some people, but it takes time to find everyone who owns the smartphone.

The Moto G is a successor to the popular Moto X that comes with fewer features and costs less money. It still created a lot of buzz in overseas markets and Motorola announced it as the most successful smartphone they have ever produced. In the US it is available from five different phone carriers including Verizon, US Cellular, Sprint, Boost Mobile and Cricket.

As a refresher, the Moto G started with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean followed by 4.4 KitKat, 4.4.2, 4.4.3 and finally the 4.4.4 build we are seeing rollout in stages now.

We recommend installing it over a stable WiFi connection and not using the mobile data plan. Furthermore, it’s a good idea to take a backup of the OS. No data loss is expected unless something goes wrong. If the installation process stalls it may need a factory reset whereby the data will be wiped. backup the contacts, market apps, SMS texts, call logs, photo galleries and any music store on the handset. Use the internal storage of 8 GB’s for this. if stuck, try using Titanium or Helium apps available from the Google Play store. Google Drive also offers extra storage space if you run out of internal space to store the data.

Additionally, the standard Kitkat treats such as cloud printing, transparent status and navigation bars, immersive mode, white status bar icons, new location menu, color Emoji support, landscape keyboard enhancements came in patches in the past updates. That means the new Android 4.4.4 comes with accuracy improvements, security fixes, better framework and most importantly a fix for the OPENSSL bug found in the earlier Android 4.4.3 Kitkat.

Please leave feedback in the comments if you are already seeing it arrive.
