If you are a subscriber to the AT&T network and own the second-generation Motorola Moto X smartphone you should rejoice since a new Android 5.0.2 Lollipop software update is coming out your way. The new build number 22.21.34 is now live and will equip your phones with the very latest version of Android available in the mobile world.
As you might not know, owners of Motorola smartphones from the last couple of years are in good hands since the Mountain View company has them first on the wish-list when it comes to software updates these days. That could be attributed to Motorola being a Google company just last year. Even though the two tech giants went their separate ways, there doesn’t seem to be any beef. While that was amazing news for some Motorola owners, depending on your phone carrier network, you might have been left out in the cold until recently. That’s the story for AT&T users who just learned about the official Lollipop soak tests days ago.
Now that the update is finally here after first rolling out to some devices last year, users can finally test out the material design UI, material design of the application drawer, witness the new-found quickness thanks to Android RunTime (ART), check out the smart notifications including a do not disturb feature from the lock screen, other lock screen goodies and still a heap more. You’ll also get to try a new Easter Egg that gets its idea from hit iOS game Flappy Bird, Android Beam, screen pinning, multiple device sharing, tap and go NFC payments, battery saver mode, priority mode and still hundreds of extra features we can’t fit all in here.
To install the new 5.0.2 Lollipop 22.21.34 firmware is simple: accept the ‘download’ and ‘install now’ options when they arrive on the phone’s display. You should know by now that all OTA’s roll out in different stages to all owners, meaning that you will see it coming at different times. Your friends might see the Lollipop before you or the other way around. The software update is due to be a large one coming in at several hundred MB’s in size. That means you want to stay off the mobile data plan and connect it up to the WiFi network. Doing so will give you several advantages, including staying away from the high network traffic from AT&T and you won’t get any unwanted data charges.
