A new build of Android 4.4.2 Kitkat firmware namely 20.1.B.0.60 is certified and ready to roll out to the Sony Xperia E1 Dual smartphone. The unofficial Xperia blog tells us that it is officially PTCRB certified as of today. That means we will begin seeing it arriving as a notification to devices soon. Don’t forget if you don’t accept to download and install it right away you will need to navigate to Settings > About Device > Software Update and start the installation manually. It won’t come as a system notification twice.

Furthermore, we recommend getting it done over the home WiFi because it is more stable and nobody wants to download a lot of MB’s using 4G or 3G data speed. using the mobile data also runs a higher risk of the connection dropping out and thus putting a halt to proceedings. It can sometimes result in a factory reset needing to be applied, which wipes all of your data. With that in mind take a full backup of the OS, including your contacts do, you don’t get left high and dry.

E1 Dual

Android 4.4.2 is our favorite version of the chocolate software because it comes with the most features. Inside you will find color Emoji support, full screen album on the lock screen, transparent status and navigation bars, cloud printing, white status bar icons, new Location menu, immersive mode that gives a full screen app experience without the status bar on your way. In addition, we also get performance boosts, enhanced Samsung Keyboard. revised TouchWiz interface and extra Samsung-based native applications.

Moreover, the E1 single-SIM variant is expected to receive the same goodies coming shortly, but no official date has been handed out yet.

The rollout happens in stages so it will not arrive to handsets at the same time. Some will get it started soon and it can take days or even weeks until it reaches everybody. With any luck we will write up a guide if you want to skip the wait and install it manually using the file and Odin.
